Toggle clamps are useful for a variety of applications where holding down workpieces is needed. Also called hold-down clamps, different types of toggle clamps include Vertical, Horizontal, Miniature, and Snap clamps. Mountable with different types of plates and bases, they provide a more permanent placement for clamping where repetition, safety, and secure holding power is needed.
The difference between horizontal and vertical toggle clamps is the location and movement of the handle. On horizontal toggle clamps, the handle is pressed down from above to clamp and lays flat when fully engaged, providing more space for working than other clamp styles. This can be useful in situations where a lower profile handle is needed to keep it out of the way while working.
On vertical toggle clamps, the handle is moved in an upward direction to clamp and stops at a vertical position when fully engaged. This can be useful when working in less accessible spaces. Both vertical and horizontal toggle clamps are offered with a flat and straight base mounting option.
Miniature toggle clamps are also available, including ones with a special rocker feature. This rocker feature allows the clamp to move forward and downward into position for direct downward pressure. Snap style toggle clamps use a unique snap-on system to provide uniform and positive clamping in one smooth operation.
